Activate spec-editor Autonomic

Coming soon: three steps from a purchase to a working spec-editor Autonomic.

  1. 1. Install the open core

The install script from GitHub clones the repository and sets up the free open core and the spec-editor command in ~/.spec-editor.

    curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/spec-editor/spec-editor/main/install.sh | bash -s -- --dev
  2. 2. Install the Autonomic package

The package comes with your purchase, and its file name is given there. It is not available as a download yet. Install it into the environment the install script created. The exact line may change; the instructions that come with the package win.

    ~/.spec-editor/.venv/bin/pip install ./<file-received-with-your-purchase>
  3. 3. Activate the license key

Run this in your project folder with the key from your purchase receipt. The command checks the key with Gumroad and saves it to your project's local configuration.

    spec-editor license activate <your-license-key>

Afterwards, spec-editor license status shows the tier and expiry of the active license.

If activation fails

  • Check the key. Copy it from your receipt without spaces; it has the form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
  • Check that your machine can reach Gumroad. The key is verified over the network, so a proxy or a firewall can block it.
  • Still stuck? Write to info@radianceteam.com with the error message. Do not include the full key.
